So you want to be a DJ for Phoenix Radio
Well, we'd love to have you join our DJ family. There's a few things we need you to consider first. Take a look at our
Schedule. Wherever you see the name HAL, indicates a segment that is covered by our automatic DJ (HAL). If you think you can fill any "HAL" spot (all times Eastern), let us know. If any of Hal's spots do not fit in to your schedule, you can consider becoming a 'relief' DJ. Which means you can fill in for a DJ that can't do their scheduled show, or just jump on in any HAL spot that is open during a 24 hour period.
DJ's will also go through a light screening process because we value our station and it's integrity so we just need to make sure that you will continue to respect our station and give our listeners the entertainment level that we value at PRN.
We will train you to DJ. We'll help and instruct you on how to acquire the necessary programs to broadcast with, and we will run a test of your computer speed. PRN proudly broadcasts at 128 kbps stereo, so we need to make sure your computer can handle it.
Once you've had your training and are all set to go, we'll run a broadcast test with you. This test will include you playing a song, then talking, then playing another song. In this way we will be able to hear you and know that you understand how to DJ online prior to your being given a spot on the air.
All DJ's at PRN are required to run ICQ instant chat, as this is how we stay in contact with all of the other DJ's for numerous reasons. You can get ICQ by going to www.icq.com. However we encourage you to get the older version of icq 2002 or 2003 from oldversion.com as it works best with the broadcast programs.
We have two predominent rules at PRN. Rule #1
Have Fun. Rule #2 Never Break Rule #1. We are a no drama radio station and will accept nothing less than a loyal and fun group of people with good morals and integrity associated with PRN.
We do have a DJ General Guideline document to be adhered to as well as the Number 1 & 2 Rules which will be supplied to you once you get on board. It basically sets out the etiquette we use at PRN in order to keep our station running smoothly and consistently.
PRN is a legal and licensed broadcasting radio station. Read below for your own protection as well as to uphold the integrity that we strive to achieve and maintain at PRN.
